[opensuse] 1/2 of libqt4-x11 packages failing to install in 11.0 update from kde4 factory
Guys I have had a string of libqt4-x11 "package is broken, fails integrity check" failures tonight updating various 11.0 boxes. Out of 60 updates, 30 or so fail with the integrity check fail error. Primarily from the 11.0 factory repo. Just got another for ktouch. What's up with that? cc:Pavlov , just FYI -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. I think support for openSUSE 11.0 expired at 30th June this year, so there will be no further updates. You may want to check to make sure that any repos you have defined afe still valid. The path to them may have been moved to a discontinued path with the demise of 11.0. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Ken, I did, it's just a couple of broken packages that a developer dumped into the 11.0 kde4 factory desktop repo and cppdev repo. For the record, the broken packages introduced into the 11.0 repos were: libqt4-x11-32bit-4.6.3-120.2.x86_64.rpm libqt4-x11-4.6.3-120.2.x86_64.rpm binutils-devel-2.20.0-34.1.x86_64.rpm libqt4-devel-doc-data-4.6.3-122.2.x86_64.rpm lyx-1.90alpha4-1.4.x86_64.rpm They all fail with cpio errors: 11:25 alchemy:~/tmp # rpm -Uvh libqt4-x11-4.6.3-120.2.x86_64.rpm error: failed to stat /home/david/.gvfs: Permission denied Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:libqt4-x11 ########################################### [100%] error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib64/libQtDesignerComponents.so.4.6.3;4c2e132e: cpio: read failed - Bad file descriptor Reading suggest that is sometimes due to building on a box with corrupted memory. libqt4 on openSUSE 11.0 is version 4.4.0. So please send E-Mail the maintainers of the KDE repo. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Whatever the issue is, it seems to be in the last 2 versions of firefox. 3.6.3 worked fine, 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 both wont play the flash at the site. It isn't the flash plugin either. Firefox and Opera use the same flash plugin: 12:38 alchemy:/home/david/suse/pkg # l /usr/lib/opera/plugins/ total 8 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2010-06-25 02:09 ./ drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2010-06-25 02:09 ../ lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 2010-06-25 02:09 libflashplayer.so -> /usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so and Opera plays it just fine. I caught an error running firefox on the command line: 12:26 alchemy:/srv/http/dl/webdev> firefox Unsupported movie property data with value "./flanis.swf" Unsupported movie property id with value "FlAniS" Unsupported movie property PARAM with value "(null)" Unsupported movie property movie with value "./flanis.swf" Unsupported movie property quality with value "high" Unsupported movie property menu with value "false" Loading stream: http://radar.weather.gov/flanis.swf unhandled event 19 It looks like some incompatibility firefox has with the site. Like I said Opera plays just fine?? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. This would not cause errors. However we extended 11.0 maintenance for two more weeks until 11.3 ships. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks. And if possible, think of moving, not removing, the main repos, at least for a month or two. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Pavol, It is happening on 11.2 as well. I think gwdg.de is having real issues. Updating 11.2, I get a number of these: Error: INVALID:Package kde3-k3b-lang-1.0.5-51.26 seems to be corrupted during transfer. Do you want to retry retrieval? Attempting a retry yields the following error: Error: 2:Failed to provide Package kde3-kaffeine-lang-0.8.8-48.45. Do you want to retry retrieval? [gwdg.kde3|http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/openSUSE_11.2/] Can't provide file './noarch/kde3-kaffeine-lang-0.8.8-48.45.noarch.rpm' from repository 'gwdg.kde3' History: - kde3-kaffeine-lang-0.8.8-48.45.noarch.rpm has wrong checksum The UNCOPYABLE error dialog gives the checksum mismatch. Why the hell I can't copy the error message and paste it here in inexcusable. Here is the error: (38k) http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/bugs/zypp/11.2updateErrors.jpg That's it. It's not an 11.0 no longer supported issue (although it did take less than 48 hours for that cliche to come to light), it is an issue with the package building at gwdg.de or the source that mirrors files there. Let me know if I can send you anything else. Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
