[snip] OMFG Not another stupid "Bluecurve" experience. http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1553087,00.asp Messman said, "Our customers are creating the demand for a Linux desktop, and they're telling us they want one interface. So, we're going to migrate to a single Linux desktop." Mr. Messman, who are those customers ? [/snip] Noooooooooo!!!!! When I first started using linux I was running red hat 7.0 and eventually upgraded to red hat 7.3 and loved it. It was time for an upgrade again and red hat went to bluecurve, didn't like it not interested, so I switched to the SuSE distro, which I did end up liking better than red hat. But nooo!! I don't want to switch again! Ok I'm sorry I know that's narrow minded and its not like I couldn't go into the code screw around and get kde installed, but still, I just had to get my narrow minded non-thought-out rant off my chest. Switching distributions because you don't like the default theme????? Of all the reasons I've ever heard... Do you also sell your car when the ash tray is full?

Hmm, it reads quite badly to me. It may be something that needs arriving at by some kind of organic process, but the way I read it Novell are going to just do it and land it on us end of story. It sounds like the Novell route to getting shot of the individual users, by doing a quasi proprietary interface that will cut SUSE away from the rest of Linux. I am very bothered by the tone of the article. Is anyone aware of any links to the story from any other perspectives? I realise this thread is probably OT, but I think it is serious enough, in that it sounds quite threatening, to deal with it here. Vince Littler
