SuSE Watcher is YELLOW, cannot connect

For two days now SuSEWatcher has remained yellow. Says it cannot connect to server. I have made no changes to the fireall. I don't know, but at 9:15 (PDT, i.e. GMT-7) on Saturday I successfully checked for updates (and if I recall correctly, there was something, which I retrieved and installed). Tonight at the same hour YOU failed to connect with the server. So I'm guessing the problem is on the server side.

As of last night (roughly 12 hours ago), YOU was still failing to connect to its server. Just now it succeeded, so from my perspective, the problem, whatever it was, has been fixed. It's possible this was some sort of routing table problem, in which case we might not all have experienced it. I'm in the San Francisco Bay area and use the Agonne National Labs mirror, . It seems quite likely C. R. Matson was using this mirror, too, given his proximity. So perhaps the problem was just with that host or site. It also explains why it took until today to get it fixed--this was a holiday weekend in the U.S. As for U.S. mirrors, I haven't noticed a pattern, but the ANL mirrors are generally very good, in bandwidth, breadth of coverage and reliability / uptime.

hi all, i have suse 8.2, ever since i have installed it, online update DOES NOT happen ! :( i get an error message of update failed, check your net connections. i have a permanent internet connection through campus LAN. i use a proxy server to connect to the net though. internet connection is fine as well. do i have to do some changes in the settings for online update? if so, where do i do it? thank you in advance, bhavesh

I switched to Atlanta, Ga. yesterday and everything worked fine. I've gone to Munich several times in the past. Time of day seems to make a differience. I'm in Nevada and earily in the day I can generally do better in the westeren USA. Towards evening going east seems to help. Rich
