I have a Compaq Proliant 1600 with a SCSI controller and one hard disk running Suse 7.3. I add another hard disk (because it's hot plug) but I don't know how to force to operating system to recognize the new disk. Here's the relevant information from dmesg: ncr53c8xx: 53c875 detected scsi0 : ncr53c8xx-3.4.3b-20010512 scsi1 : ncr53c8xx-3.4.3b-20010512 Vendor: COMPAQ Model: BD009122BA Rev: 3B07 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Attached scsi disk sda at scsi1, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 My first disk is /dev/sda so I suposse when I add the second one it should be /dev/sdb but when I try to access (via fdisk for example) it gives me nothing. Thanks for your help. Regards, Freddy Chavez.

Try running /bin/rescan-scsi-bus.sh -- -ckm
