How can I get a persistant ppp connection following a re-login
I have just recently come over from Mandrake8.0, 8.2 & 8.3. One of the thing it was able to do was remain connected to the internet even when logging out and logging in again - even as a different user. Now that I am using SuSE 8.0 I am missing this useful feature. I do not use kinternet and it is not installed rather I use kpppd. One of the options for kppd is to maintain the connection in this manner. Needles to say I have tried this option but to no effect. I know mandrake use a script to launch pppd from kpppd but I am afraid it's all double ductch to me :( Anyone have any clues as to how to make this work? Thanks Rob
I use KPPP and reconnect. It reconnects when the connection is lost. My ISP disconnect every two hours, so this is handy. This is not the answer to your question, but I suspect the reconnect option is handy for my problem and doesn't work for what you want to do? Frits J.
