SUSE 9.1 & cups problems
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hey all.. I am having a problem with getting cups & printer setup to work. I had it working when my laptop was running 9.1 and the desktop 9.0 but, now with both running 9.1 I have constant lockups when trying to configure the printer. The printer is a canon4200 connected to the desktop by serial port and is setup and runs just fine.. I have disabled SUSEFirewall2 on the desktop(DT) just in case that is the problem. The IP of the DT is 192.168.1.101. The laptop (LT) is curently .121 ( changes every few days) I've installed and remove the cups files 5 times and still have the same problem. If 192.168.1.101 is in cups.conf then when I click on printer in yast it locks up at the 50% mark. If I remove it and try to configure again through yast and I select .101 as the server and then test it, it again locks up and goes nowhere. But a network load meter on the DT shows activity to the laptop... Cups stops and restarts with no error messages.. I have used the lppasswd command and created a new password for it.. Any help would be appreciated.. - -- Adolph & Sharon Weidanz '78 43' Endeavour Ketch S/V Time To Paws -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFBQfSblC+PSm9+eB0RArCGAKCQjxqyez+NAg4c+tDKF97KrN5YzACfSX/8 HwPyux91CUHwjvDsVnoxExo= =xb0Y -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Adolph,
I've installed and remove the cups files 5 times and still have the same problem.
I'm having the same problem ( check the archives for last week ). I think CUPS network printing config in YaST is broken in 9.1. Check the list archives for last week; the only suggestion I've seen is to re-build CUPS from source. BTW, don't bother trying Samba printing either, you'll have the same problem. -- --Josh Josh Berkus Aglio Database Solutions San Francisco
