An additional information note: I am now running SuSE9.1 again, and all my hardware is detected OK, including my "lost" scsi devices that I previous posted at: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2004-May/3254.html http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2004-May/4294.html Looking through the list, I see also others later have experienced empty scanner lists in Yast2, though I don't know if this is caused by the same problem as I have experienced. But it can be worth to check it if it happends again. What I have experienced is the following: When installing SuSE9.1 Pro (at least from the single DVD), the Online Update service is being available at the end of a new installation, and before the first reboot of the installed kernel. There is however a warning message saying that it is not suggested to do online update of the kernel before the first reboot of a new installation, because this can cause hardware detecting problems. But it is easy to oversee just this popup message during the installation. Excuse me for doing just that (I expect) previously. Doing Online Update of the kernel at this point, caused that two of my three scsi devices were not detected at all, and my scanner list was empty in Yast2. At a later reinstallation I rebooted first, before doing Online Update of the kernel. Then all my scsi devices were detected OK. Terje J. Hanssen
