Hi Guys When trying to connect to webmin or swat using my browser I am getting a message 'cannot connect to local host'. If I look in the etc/hosts file there is an entry 127.0.0.1 localhost. I am trying to connect to webmin using http://localhost:1000, and webmin is installed. What have I missed. Do I need to enable user access to webmin ? port is 10000 if firewall is running, enable explicit access to 10000 -- Silviu Marin-Caea Systems Engineer Linux/Unix http://www.genesys.ro Phone +4093-267961

Also, on my Mandrake system at least, you have to use https, not http. I don't know if this would be true for SuSE, since I don't have Webmin on my SuSE system right now. *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 7.3 Professional KDE 2.2.1 KMail 1.3.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S. It becomes https if you enable SSL from the Webmin configuration. The port remains the same (unless you choose to change it), but it will give an error if you only use http. I think newer versions will actually redirect you and automatically add the 's' for you. To enable SSL, you need to install the Net::SSLeay Perl module. This is on the CD's, or you can download it. I wouldn't rely too much on Webmin's Perl download module; I have tried to install the SSLeay module from the net three times on different machines and it has yet to succeed. Installing from the CD is probably easiest. Once this is installed, the Webmin configuration will allow you to select SSL on or off. Obviously, the system is a bit more secure with SSL switched on.
