XFree 4.3 compile question
I'm compiling XFree86 4.3 on my SuSE 8.1 Pro installation, from the sources. I'm folling the instructions provided - so far so good. Before I install though, is there anything I need to do or any compile time options I need to specify to make it fit into SuSE's way of doing things? This was discussed very recently As far as I can tell, the version of X you get from xfree86.org isn't complete. It lacks some encryption stuff that, according to the readme in SuSE's patched version, requires licensing to distribute. If you want it the SuSE way, you would have to track down those patches and apply them. If you don't care about the encryption and want to go with the xfree86.org offering, it looks like you'll have to recompile the display manager you want to use. regards Anders PS Note to dep: this does *not* mean that a power user cannot make it work

Thanks, with all the flaming going on lately I skipped a lot of posts - will check the archives. Thanks Hans == Download ringtones, logos and picture messages at Ananzi Mobile Fun. http://www.ananzi.co.za/cgi-bin/goto.pl?mobile
I would try this before building your own Xfree86 4.3.0, be sure to read the README and relese notes: http://www.suse.com/us/private/download/xfree86/index.html On Monday 28 April 2003 09:11 am, H du Plooy wrote:
