Hello,
There is a program on the Apple side of things called 'Little Snitch'. At the point a program tries to connect to the Internet, Little Snitch stops the program at that point tells you what program is trying to connect to the Internet and where it's trying to connect to. Then it allows me to decide if the connection should be made or not. Is there anything on the Linux side I could use to do this?
Thanks, Jerome
I did this search: 'packet sniffers linux'. I found a few sniffers but no 'Little Snitch'. Little Snitch stops a process that wants to connect to the Internet and tells you which application is trying to connect and who it's trying to connect to. Then it allows you to decide yes or no on the connection. If I can't find it I'll have to try to create it. Jerome

Exceptional! My company has been waiting on something like this before moving to Linux on the desktop....

There are programs for intrusion detection, stopping trojans and the like. Let me see if I can follow the rationale .... Something nasty gets through, inevitable as there is nothing to stop it, so you need to be able to kill its outward bound mischief. Hmmmmmmmm......??????, I'm still confused. Many companies offer wafer thin excuses for not moving to Linux desktops, it was servers before that. One thing I have learned in 3+ decades of dealing in corporate computer circles is that fear and covering one's rear largely dictates decisions, you are out on a thin branch if you are not a herd animal.
