Downloading big fileson a shacky telephone line
Having a shaky telephone line I often happen to suffer from interruption of my connection. That is especially maddening if you have already downloaded some 92% of a big file. Just sitting there and hoping thatthe line will keep ,open is the worst part of a download. I remember having a program that could pick up at the point where my line broke down. Do not know which programs SuSE may offer. And google did not give me any useful answers before my line went down ;-).

Have a look at d4x on the SuSE CDs - excellent download manager! Hans

You may also would like to try command-line download tools such as wget or prozilla. HTH, Martin

Thanks Martin. Started to try out d4x but it did not want to start. So I had a look at Progui and I am enthusiastic. It keeps the connection running at a steady stream with no interruptions of importance as it keeps four connections to the download side. If one them slows down another picks up. And it resumes aborted downloads. Just what I was looking for.
