Hi, I recently upgraded from SuSE8.1 to 8.2 and now my Kylix 3 OE fail to compile applications. It reports linker errors. By googling, I have found that the problem is the glibc version. The resolution (on RedHat and others) is to install compat-glibc. Unfortunately I cannot find such a package for SuSE 8.2. Does the package exist or is there an alternative package? Any body know of a different solution to the problem? Thanks -- Andre Truter Software Engineer Registered Linux user #185282 ICQ #40935899 AIM: trusoftzaf http://www.trusoft.za.net ~ A dinosaur is a salamander designed to Mil Spec ~

Yes, it would be nice to have an upgrade for the glibc libs. I am having some issues regarding this. I understand that there is a compat package in some other distros. Anyone from SuSE have any ideas about any updates? I did find some solution. It includes installing the RedHat compat-glibc package. So far it works for me. I intsalled mysql in suse8.2. But the server does not start automatically when re-booting. Of course, you can manually start the server by issuing "/etc/rc.d/mysql start'. Could you please advise me how to let the server automatically start at booting? ________________________________________________________________________ Want to chat instantly with your online friends? Start up Yast, go to System->Run Level Editor, then click on the Runlevel Properties Button. You can start/stop/refresh the system processes, and by selecting from the Set/Reset button set them to start at boot. Select the mysql process, first. HTH, Jason

Or just type 'chkconfig -a mysql' as root on a command line. ;) Ken
