No sound with SoundBlaster Live 5.1 PCI card
I installed SuSE 8.2 on my desktop that has a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 PCI card. It appears to be detected correctly (using the EMU10k1 driver) and the mixer settings are unmuted and at reasonable settings, however I'm not getting any sound. Is this a frequent issue and if so, are there some other things I should check? Thanks. Trey -- Trey Sizemore trey@fastmail.fm

Trey, Do you get sound when you do the test for the card in Control Center? You might want to remove the card from your settings and let YaST2 reconfigure it to do your testing. That card should work very nicely with your SuSE. Make sure not only that your mixer is not muted, but the volumes are turned up too. What sound are you not getting? Everything or just the audio cd part? Patrick -- --- KMail v1.5.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

That card has a "digital out and analog out setting", if you are using digital speakers, use the digital out, if not use the analog. I don't know where the setting for it is in alsa. For analog output, you might see if you can get something out of the "line out" jack(you will probably need headphones) -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
