Hello all... I'm attempting to transfer some web content to a new server I'm trying out (freeshell.org). I can use zmodem and/or kermit (not ftp though). The problem I have is when I run kermit, it's trying to go through my modem. It's a 'winmodem' nonetheless, but that doesn't matter because I'm plopping my presence onto the internet via my network card. So my question now is how do I configure kermit (or zmodem - i.e., rz & sz) to go through the network? Thanks for any advice... Eric __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Sure.

You don't (I don't even think it's possible...is ethernet 8-bit clean?). If you can't use ftp for some reason use scp, rsync, tar over ssh, mail, even netcat. -- -ckm
You don't (I don't even think it's possible...is ethernet 8-bit clean?). Well, I'm checking out the kermit man, and it says to 'SET NETWORK <network-type>' and to 'SET HOST <host-name-or-address>'.
So I 'SET NETWORK TCP/IP' (and that goes in peacefully) and 'SET HOST sdf.lonestar.org' and I get DNS Lookup... Trying 207.202.214.132... Reverse DNS Lookup... (OK) sdf.lonestar.org connected on port telnet But the kermits still ain't speakin' when I try send <file>/receive on each end. Hmm... I used this method many years ago but now I don't remember much about it. I started kermit on the other computer in a "server" mode in order to send / receive files over the Internet via the kermit protocol. Just running kermit on the client side wasn't enough. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se

I'm on that server too. :-)

It's better to use ssh rather than telnet, it's more secure. Then I also use scp (secure cp) to upload the files.
