Multimonitor problem with G450 and SuSE 9.0
Hello,
I have two monitors plugged into a Matrox G450 (dualhead). Under SuSE
9.0, I can't get both monitors to work at the same time. The same setup
worked flawlessly under SuSE 8.2.
Since the size of any message on this list is limited, I will send the
XF86Config and error log as replies to this message.
The problem seems to lie in the fact that for some reason XFree86 does
not recognize the G450: Sax2 only sees one G400. I have to set all the
settings manually (card, monitors, display...). Still, when I try to
start X, I get a cryptic error.
I did try to install the original Matrox drivers, to no avail.
I have a IIyama Vision Master Pro 451 and IIyama AS4314UT.
I have scoured the web and all, but I did not found anything relevant to
this problem. Since the G450 is a very common card, especially among
Linux users, I'm not very optimistic.
Best Regards,

Well, I think I can since I finally managed to make it work. It seems
that there is a combination of problems with the setup provided by Sax2
under SuSE 9.0. Here the setup that work for me:
-- I've installed the Matrox drivers.
-- By default, the agpgart and mga modules are not loaded in the kernel
while the documentation of the Matrox drivers say that they should, so I
added them to boot.local.
-- Sax2 does not recognize the G450 but "MGA G400 AGP" works just fine.
-- Sax2 does not add a BusID option to the Device section. On my box,
the BusID is "1:5:0", but someone sent me a X86config with "1:0:0" so I
guess that it is motherboard-dependent.
-- I had my monitors reversed, so I was trying to display 1600*1200 at
110 Mhz on my LCD. Not going to happen.
I did not try to determine the exact cause of the problem, but I think
that it is the absence of the BusID option. Under SuSE 8.2, Sax2 did
generate it.
I've attached my configuration below.
