File permission in dual boot
Hi all, I've just made a dual boot between my FC4 and Suse10. I mount FC4's filesystem. What I want to do is to be able to edit and save files in FC4's filesystem. Right now, when I check the ownership, it's registered to 500.500. Who's this? If I do chown -R fajar /fc4dir, will it break FC4? Thanks. -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux User #327841 | Linux tutorial http://linux2.arinet.org 15:35:23 up 4:02, 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 GNU/Linux Let's use OpenOffice. http://www.openoffice.org

Usually SuSE starts to number the users and groups from 1000. I'd suggest that you change the uids and gids of your user in FC4 to the same numbers you have in SuSE. Change it in /etc/passwd (for uid) and /etc/group for groups. After doing this, do not forget to change the ownership of your home directory. Cheers -- -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)
