Hmm - in your server console, when configuring the virtual machine - you should be able to select it there. In my .vmx file I have the following: sound.present = "true" sound.virtualdev = "es1371" maybe that helps? -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

may be this is the problem. I have some sort of bug in my machine, after some uses, mplayer says "I can't open the /de/dsp". however the sound come out anyway (frommplayer/linux), so I didn't invesitgate more, but this may block vmware need a reboot (shame) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://clairedodin.voices.com/ http://www.clairedodin.com/ http://claire.dodin.net/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That will always solve your problems! :P Hey, check this out. http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/vmware_xp_remote_suse_1680x1050.jpg I'm using VMWare to remote use wintendo, where I have the vpn client loaded and connected to my corprate network. I then am using remote desktop from vmware to connect to my vista machine, where I'm using vnc to connect to my suse server... http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/vmware_xp_remote_suse_1680x1050.jpg -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request

This is a pretty remarkable thing. I have only read a tiny bit of the introductory portion of the manual. Can you say if it is possible to put the "virtual hard disk" on an external firewire drive so that Virtual Box itself is the only thing that resides on the internal drive (of a laptop), thereby reducing the risk of "polluting", so to speak, the internal drive. Very good! I like virtual box, as i use it for the 11.0 alpha testing. I only use vmware because my xp image is several years old and I don't feel like recreating it. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You can use VMware images in VirtualBox with little in the way of tweaks. I copied my W2000 image to VirtualBox and only needed to remove the VMware tools package first, run the installer to take care of the change in the "virtual hardware" and then install the VirtualBox tools package. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I should add that the installer I refer to is the windows installer for the version of windows you are using. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I will try jdd don't works. My vmware xp don't start (I Have the debug start menu, but even failsafe don't start)
no problem for me, this was a stock XP install and I already made one for virtualbox, so end of the story for me (I removed the unusable disk, I can't have too many such big files on my computer) thanks all jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://clairedodin.voices.com/ http://www.clairedodin.com/ http://claire.dodin.net/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
