Anyone Able To Compile syslog-ng 1.92 on SLES 9?
First it needed pkgconfig so I installed version 0.15 (latest stable). Now when I run ./configure I get this error: checking for pkg-config... /usr/local/bin/pkg-config checking for glib-2.0... Package glib-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `glib-2.0.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'glib-2.0' found configure: error: Library requirements (glib-2.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them. Any ideas? Thx,

and you checked to make sure that it was *not* already installed?

Did you follow the suggestion?
No package 'glib-2.0' found
Is a glib package => glib-2.0 installed?
configure: error: Library requirements (glib-2.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.
same as above
Any ideas?
You have them. Any reason why you needed to ask? -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/photos

Yea, I'll ask again. Has anyone gotten this compiled on SLES 9> Read the question. I can read my own output. Sheesh. If you are not gonna be profuctive in a thread, don't partake. Save your bitter betty attitude for some other list.

Are you only interested in someone else compiling or did you want to do it on your system? Did you look for an rpm on the install disks?
Read the question. I can read my own output. Sheesh. If you are not gonna be profuctive in a thread, don't partake. Save your bitter betty attitude for some other list.
Maybe you *can* read but you see to have a problem relating, ie: answering questions and/or following directions that the compile offers. Please enjoy your quest. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/photos

He has given you several suggestions - albeit tersely -, and we need clarification from you, further input. Namely: * Did you try to install pkgconfig from the distro (dvd/cd/ftp)? You should not need to compile that yourself. * Did you add glib-2.0.pc path to PKG_CONFIG_PATH? * Is glib-2.0 installed? -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

Thank you for a very helpful reply, and some education added in, Carlos. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.300 / Virus Database: 265.6.11 - Release Date: 12/01/05

Your spelling and punctuation are severely lacking and your sarcasm greatly exceeds mine. Congratulations. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/photos
