vipw -s and change the passwd to '*', vipw and change the shell to /bin/false. Make sure to 'chmod -R 000 ~/.ssh -- -ckm
You can use the passwd utility to do it too. As root use passwd -l "accountname" to lock it and to unlock use again as root passwd -u "accountname" Hope that this helps.
