Hi everybody! I had to reformat the Windows partition of a harddisk that is shared between Win98 and SuSE9.1. I have the GRUB files (menu.lst, stage1, stage2) on a floppy and everything boots fine from there. Is there someone who can tell me how to rewrite the MBR to point to the GRUB files in /boot? The GRUB help screens are less than helpful. Thanks in advance. -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER@CONSOLIDATEDLINT.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE

YaST is your friend. Bring up YaST2/System/Boot loader. Yast will rewrite the MBR.
If you want to use the command line, here is an excerpt from the grub
info page:
become root
#grub
grub> root (hd0,0) # Set up the root drive
grub> setup (hd0) # write to MBR
grub> quit

In that case: * grub --batch < /etc/grub.conf or * yast bootloader
