[opensuse] how do I get flash in firefox enabled again?
I'm trying to play with the new flash 64bit beta from Adobe, but Firefox is not picking it up. I think(!) this is due to my disabling the flash plugin some months back when it kept making firefox abend. I can't find a config that says "flash disabled". how do I get flash enabled in firefox again? FF 3.6.10, Flashplayer Square from 27/9. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (14.1°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yeah, I tried both of those - I can't find a setting that looks right though. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (18.8°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yep, been there too :-) It only lists the adobe and the null plugin. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (18.8°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Could be two different issues. If you disabled it within Firefox it still must be visible in that Plugins view. But first check if Firefox can actually find it. To which location have you copied the library? Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

/usr/lib64/firefox/plugins - which is also where the PDF plugin lives, and ff has no problems finding that one. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (12.6°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

after a lot of trying around, i copied the 64bit plugin to /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/, where it's picked up from all browsers i'm using (FF, chromium, konqueror, opera). i have no idea why it doesn't work in any of the other plugin directories, but it doesn't. and, of course, all the nsplugin-stuff under /usr/lib/~ has to be removed or renamed. -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Okay, have tried that too, didn't work. However, I then tried running firefox from the command line which produced thee two errors: LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /opt/jre1.6.0_19/lib/amd64/libjavaplugin_jni.so [/opt/jre1.6.0_19/lib/amd64/libjavaplugin_jni.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64] LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /usr/lib64/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so [/usr/lib64/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64] Hmm, I see - on mozilla.com, the firefox builds are all 32bit. I guess I'll have to build it myself (this is 10.3 system). -- Per Jessen, Zürich (12.7°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ok, the next time please tell us that you use nothing provided by openSUSE! The flashplayer you installed is from Adobe and the Firefox you installed is from mozilla.com apparently? So please if you ask here about third party applications the next time tell us in the beginning and you probably get useful answers. But anyway excuse me that I needed to drop 10.3 support for Mozilla stuff. Nevertheless you probably want to update at some point ;-) Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I don't have and probably the sound of my mail was worse than it was meant to be. But it would have been a lot easier to point into the right direction if the initial information would have been clearer.
