Sorry, but the obvious question is, if you can't think of convincing reasons, why do you want to do it? And if you can think of a reason, please let me know! I am happy enough with 6.4 that my 7.0 CD's are gathering dust. I'd rather wait till all the wrinkles are ironed out of XFree86 4.0, KDE2 and kernel 2.4...
My tuppence.

I think this is very sound advice from Corvin for those who like the stability of the system they use, why upgrade ? I did just because I am curious, but as I have a few PC's lying around the place I always have at least one of them running a nice stable system for day to day use :) Cliff p.s. Having said that I have found no major problems with 7.0, but KDE2 doesn't really integrate itself properly .. Suse in their haste to thrust KDE2 out there haven't configured it properly.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what one could say to software support to justify them upgrading from 6.3 -> 7.0 after the just bought 6.3 for all of engineering in January ?
Thanks

SuSE 6.3 is an excellent distro. The reasons for upgrading to 7.0 are, IMHO: 1) to be able to use ReiserFS, which I like very much.
ReiserFS support was present in 6.3
2) A very improved graphical YaST
graphical YaST is no big deal for using the system.
3) Security patches already applied
How many updated packages for 7.0 are there on ftp.suse.com? Anyway one cannot have secure and up-to-date system just doing install from CDs. Any other reasons? -Kastus

2) A very improved graphical YaST That is a matter of opinion. The only thing Yast2 is good for is configuring printers in my experience. The user interface is bizarre to say the least. 3) Security patches already applied Ok.
