At least I got WP9 running under my user account. I will try the remaining apps after I take my wife out for a celibratory treat! Here is what I did. 1) Made sure I was totally cleaned from previous install attempts, and logged in as root. 2) Install the rpms in the sequence indicated by the setup_log left over from the failed second installation attempt. 3) Installed wpo2000-minimal-dlx as suggested by Avi Schwartz (the rpm script died with a "script error" message right after the gas gauge hit the end of the rpm install, but all files appeared to be installed) It took about 30 minutes to install all 26 rpm files 4) Used KDE's Ktop to remove the fontfs that was left running, so I could unmount and remove the cd #1. 5) Edited /usr/lib/corel/bin/setupWPO2000 as per Gavriel State's Instructions. 6) While in the /usr/lib/corel/bin directory I issued the command: ./setupWPO2000 The script ran for about 15 to 20 seconds and stopped. I thought it had failed. So I issued the command 'wordperfect' and a dialog came up say I shouldn't run this script as root. I chose cancel and logged out of root and into my user account. There I opened an xterm and typed 'wordperfect'. A license agreement dialog came up and I accepted it. And there it was, in all of it's beautiful glory! WordPerfect 9. I must be dreaming! I wrote a quicl letter and saved it. Then I closed WP9 and wrote this email. Didn't try the printer yet. Now my wife and I are going to celebrate! I had the same feeling the first time I started Emacs, too! JLK
