HI all,
I was sent two doc files that I can't open. I'm using open office and normally I can open them. The original file names were this:
~$m stadt straubing.doc ~$m Vesterling.doc
I put them online at:
www.passing-fancy.com/WHB/Straubing.doc www.passing-fancy.com/WHB/Vesterling.doc
Can someone tell me how to open them or will I have to get with my friend and have her redo them?
Thanks,
JIM
Those were not real documents, but temporary files created by MS Office. Request them again, but warn the sender about the problem. He/she probably attached wrong files.
I just talked to her and she is going to resend them as Open Office files. I had thought that with the "~" on it that it was a back up or compressed file. Next time I'm over at her house I'll check her settings.
Thanks,
JIM

At first glance, the only thing I can see that could have triggered the rejection is the Content Type. multipart/alternative is not very common, as far as I know. But it looks like a mistake. Well, I removed " http:/" from two links I put in the email and then it got thru. BUT I've put links in before and it was no problem. Could they have changed the system today? Doubtful it was that :-?

Dunno. The problem with that type of message is that it doesn't specify the exact problem the filter found. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. <Big SNIP> I got a couple of rejects a few weeks ago for no apparent reason. If you open a bugzilla about this I'll add my two. And like you, there was no apparent reason for the rejection. I think the filter is just a little too tight.
