Hi, I have recently bought a new Time Computers 2.6Ghz AMD PC with a 256Mb ATi Radeon 9200SE graphics card in it. When I try to install my SuSE 8.2 Personal edition, it boots from the CD, but no matter what option I choose, the PC locks, and never brings up any image on the monitor, after Choose the Installation Type' screen. I guess it might have something to do with the PCI graphics card, but how do I get SuSE installed? Kind Regards Tim. Tim Delbaere Engineering Services Drawing Office Manager
Tim: try to choose the manual or the safe settings install options and see whether that works. Best regards, Alex. On Mon, 27 Oct 2003, Delbaere, Tim wrote:

I don't believe the 9200 is supported by 8.2 out of the box. You probably need updated drivers and/or XFree86 4.3. It also seems to depend on exactly who made the card. There was a whole bunch of correspondence last month in several threads. Try searching the archive for '9200' or 'radeon' or '9000'. HTH, Dave

My son's Compaq desktop has a ATI Radeon 9200 card. The install completed. Using sax2, the Radeon 9000 card was selected as 9200 card was not listed. 3d support seems to work. LW999
