Hi! I would like to setup my SUSE 10.0 server to handle my email accounts. It would fetch my mail from 3 different POP3 accounts and store them on the server in IMAP format. I would also like to have webmail access... Any suggestions on which programs to use? Pointers to a step-by-step guide would be very appreciated! /Jan K.

I configured fetchmail (with fetchmailconf), and get the following error when fetching mail: fetchmail: 6.2.5.2 querying bostream.nu (protocol POP3) at Wed 26 Oct 2005 05:09:35 PM CEST: poll started fetchmail: POP3< +OK Hello there. fetchmail: POP3> CAPA fetchmail: POP3< +OK Here's what I can do: fetchmail: POP3< TOP fetchmail: POP3< USER fetchmail: POP3< LOGIN-DELAY 10 fetchmail: POP3< PIPELINING fetchmail: POP3< UIDL fetchmail: POP3< IMPLEMENTATION Courier Mail Server fetchmail: POP3< . fetchmail: POP3> USER jan.k fetchmail: POP3< +OK Password required. fetchmail: POP3> PASS * fetchmail: POP3< +OK logged in. fetchmail: POP3> STAT fetchmail: POP3< +OK 1 1027 1 message for jan.k at bostream.nu (1027 octets). fetchmail: POP3> LIST 1 fetchmail: POP3< +OK 1 1027 fetchmail: POP3> RETR 1 fetchmail: POP3< +OK 1027 octets follow. reading message jan.k@bostream.nu:1 of 1 (1027 octets) fetchmail: smtp listener protocol error fetchmail: smtp listener protocol error fetchmail: SMTP connect to localhost failed fetchmail: POP3> QUIT fetchmail: POP3< fetchmail: SMTP transaction error while fetching from bostream.nu fetchmail: 6.2.5.2 querying bostream.nu (protocol POP3) at Wed 26 Oct 2005 05:19:38 PM CEST: poll completed fetchmail: Query status=10 (SMTP) fetchmail: normal termination, status 10 Done. Without knowing your actual setup it's difficult to guess, but it looks like your SMTP-server isn't listening when fetchmail is trying to deliver mails to it. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/ - managed anti-spam and anti-virus solution. Sign up for your free 30-day trial now!

That wouldn't hurt, but fetchmail can also deliver mail to a simple maildrop command (maildrop, procmail, cyrdeliver...) by using the "mda" config directive. -hwh
