[opensuse] what happened to kdict?
I just moved to a machine with 10.2 from 10.0 and kdict no longer works. I have installed everything KDE but it is still not there. I'm crippled without kdict! How do I get it back? Thanks. you have to install it. to find the package: pin kdict (that's from the cl) kdenetwork3-query -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 OpenSUSE Linux http://en.opensuse.org/ Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Thanks, Patrick. I probably would never have looked for it in that package.

If you use YaST, often you need to check the Description check box in order to find tools. If you're sure it should be around, try doing that with kdict and it finds it. Just don't try doing it with 'pin':-) -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ UNIX is user-friendly. this does work.

Would you please explain this statement. That is the *entire* purpose of the app "pin". -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Unfortunately, pin doesn't work as reliably as it did. It only searches one database, normally, the archives.gz file from the dvd, and the dvd doesn't contains everything currently. It would have to search both the archives from the oss and non oss remote repos instead of the single one from the dvd. Of course, if you have the bought version, things might be different. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Sorry, I meant don't try searching with the Description checked. There's a million packages with the substring 'pin' in the description and it takes forever to find them. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ UNIX is user-friendly. You apparently missed something. "pin" is not what the OP was looking for. It was "kdict". Nope, I didn't miss that. Someone else suggested using pin to search for kdict, so, after searching for kdict with Description checked, I decided to then search for 'pin'. Big mistake, as I said, esp. if you have a bunch of package sources like I do. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ UNIX is user-friendly.
