(SuSE 9.1) Hello, Please send solutions to these issues if possible: 1- Konqueror cannot remember its window size permanently, nor Nautilus. For Konqueror, as you know, there is an option, but, it doesn't work for ever. 2- In gnome, is there a way to mount and unmount floppies or CDs (other than mount command)? 3- In gnome, Mozilla "Preferences" menu cannot be moved further when its title-bar reaches to top of the screen. This problem prevents me to press OK button or access some settings (I use Alt+mouse to move). Is there some settings to solve this? 4- Can KDE menu go to visibility mode as well as its task-bar panel? What about Gnome? 5- I installed SuSE "Neverball" rpm in RedHat 9.0; It works well for all graphics, musics, and sound effects, except one: the woman's speeches. Can by some settings it appear or I have to find and compile the source code only? 6- (Too stupid question?!) Can I install YaST for RedHat? 7- Why the gnome menu icon is intact (unlike the KDE one which is altered to SuSE)? In RedHat, It is a red hat ;-) Thank you for your notice, Bahram Alinezhad, Rudehen, Tehran, Iran. _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!? 2- In gnome, is there a way to mount and unmount floppies or CDs (other than mount command)? SUSE 9.1 by default uses submount, so if you open that directory (through the commandline or nautilus file browser) the disc will be mounted automatically if it is inserted.
3- In gnome, Mozilla "Preferences" menu cannot be moved further when its title-bar reaches to top of the screen. This problem prevents me to press OK button or access some settings (I use Alt+mouse to move). Is there some settings to solve this? Ahh, you're using 800x600, are you? In KDE you can move windows around by holding down the Alt key while dragging the window. You might be able to move the whole Mozilla window if you can't move the pref. window alone.
4- Can KDE menu go to visibility mode as well as its task-bar panel? What about Gnome? No sure what you mean by this.
6- (Too stupid question?!) Can I install YaST for RedHat? You *can* if you're really brave, but getting it to work properly will require some major coding on your side.
7- Why the gnome menu icon is intact (unlike the KDE one which is altered to SuSE)? In RedHat, It is a red hat ;-) That's merely an image file. I suspect if you read through the config files in your ~/.kde directory, you'll find something where you can change it.
In earlier versions of SUSE, when I downloaded newer KDE builds (rpms for SUSE from kde.org), the menu icon got changed back to the K - this time it didn't, not sure why although I did download from SUSE's FTP server this time, but from what I've heard it's the same packages. -- Kind regards Hans du Plooy Newington Consulting Services hansdp at newingtoncs dot co dot za
