I installed KDE 2.1.1 from ftp.us.kde.org with qt-1-3 experimental as people here suggested. But when I check anti-aliasing in the Kontrol center, it doesn't work. Or rather, when I restart KDE, kicker doesn't show up, and there are a lot of other strange things happening. Do I need more stuff, or what can my problem be?
Hi, Isn't this related to qt-experimental ? This is my output for qt-experimental : filip@suse:~ > rpm -q qt-experimental qt-experimental-2.3.0-10 I downloaded those from the SuSE ftp and had no problems installing 2.1.1 Cheers, Filip. Le Samedi 31 Mars 2001 12:56, vous avez écrit :

I have the same.

No, but can you activate anti-aliasing? -- Kaare Rasmussen --Linux, spil,-- Tlf: 3816 2582 Kaki Data tshirts, merchandize Fax: 3816 2501 Howitzvej 75 Åben 14.00-18.00 Email: kar@webline.dk 2000 Frederiksberg Lørdag 11.00-17.00 Web: www.suse.dk

I know where to activate the control, but it shows the described behavior when I do - kicker doesn't start on startup, and the windows looses their edges!!!?!
Hi, 1. This has perhaps nothing to do with your question but when I first upgraded to KDE 2.1.0 from kde.org I experienced some problems aswell. That's why I upgrade to 2.1.1 from SuSE ftp. 2. I didn't have that kicker start up problem but try to browse the list, I remember that some people removed .kde2 and some tmp files. Here are some items : Re: [SLE] anti alias in kde 2.1.1 RE: [SLE] RE: DCOP Server Error (resolved?) Hope this helps and let us know. Filip.
Filip,
I downloaded those from the SuSE ftp and had no problems installing 2.1.1
Did you notice any instability problems with loading KDE after enabling anti-aliasing in 2.1.1? I suspect it might be the fact that I have a child panel and "AA" enabled, but what ever it might be, it causes the X server to crash when 2.1.1 starts up. Did you run into this? Where you able to solve it? Thanks, Tim -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy R. Butler Universal Networks Information Tech. Hi Tim, I didn't notice any stability problems and didn't run into X server crash you have. So, I cann't help here. Everything went smooth. I downloaded in a directory everything related to KDE2.1.1 from SuSE ftp . Then with Yast1 simply upgraded. Did not install qt-2.3.0-13.rpm but installed qt-experimental-2.3.0-10, qt-extensions-2.3.0-13, qt-freebies and qt-static-2.3.0-11 I upgraded to KDE2.1.1 on two PCs ( one nvidia DDR and one Nvidia Ultra ) whithout any problem. Oh, one thing I remember when upgrading maybe 5 days ago : X crashes after upgrading to Xfree4.0.3. The problem was an xserver-crash on empty fonts The solution was given to me by David : see Re: [SLE] XFree4.0.3 DCOP communication error but I don't know if that can be related with your xserver crashes. Hope this helps a little. Filip. Le Samedi 31 Mars 2001 20:13, Timothy R.Butler a écrit :
