I don't know Exceed but I use SuperX from Frontier Technologies ( www.frontiertech.com ). Start it up and than run a gnome-session. Works great for me. Got some problems with fonts in StarOffice though. Still need to figure out how to get that right. The rest of the apps work very nice. This software costs money too but you can get a demo and try it first.
