Re: [SLE] Everybuddy Suddenly Crashing
Sorry i should've said. all you needed was the first one.
bring up a terminal session, "su -" to root and run "rpm -Uvh /path/torpm.rpm"
It hopefully will install correctly, then as a nomal user again, in a shell typing "gaim" will launch the program.

Ah, you've not got the gnome libraries installed, so you can't run gaim unless you do. they are on the suse8 cds, but they are quite big (a minimal install will be about 80MB i guess, you dont need the whole of gnome, but its hard to get only parts of it. Never mind ... found it ... but! Gaim seems to only support AOL (TOC or AIM/ICQ), what about Yahoo and MSN, etc? At the moment I mostly need Yahoo for work. Thanks! doc On Thursday 04 July 2002 15:01, David Colburn wrote:

Gaim provides Yahoo Instant Messaging. You just need to load the plugin, libyahoo. It is provided with gaim. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org

I downloaded the latest version of everybuddy, 0.4.2 instead of 0.2.0 that comes with SuSE8.0. I wanted to install this, but I got the message that libltdl.so.3 is missing, and therefor it couldn't install. Where can I get this file, and how do I install it? I used Konq to install libtool so that I can install the upgrade to Everybuddy. I then followed the suggestion that I execute "linux:/home/doc # rpm -qf libltdl.so.3" to evaluate the successful install of libtool and got the following: "file libltdl.so.3: No such file or directory" On a lark I tried: "linux:/home/doc # libtool" and received: "libtool: warning: cannot infer operation mode without MODE-ARGS libtool: you must specify a MODE Try `libtool --help' for more information." This suggests to me that libtool has in fact been installed. True? Should I forget the rpm -qf libltdl.so.3 thing and just proceed with the upgrade of Everybuddy? Don't want to mess anything up by attempting the install out of sequence (or does that matter?). Thanks! doc On Sunday 07 July 2002 06:42 pm, Frits J. Wüthrich wrote:
