RE: [SLE] terminal emulator for linux
What type of terminal do you need emulation for? I had run into a problem when I was attempting to connect to a device that needed Wyse 50 emulation. I couldn't find anything for linux, so I had to go with a M$ product called HostAcess by Pixal. Jonathan Paul Cowherd Linux and Java Administrator Genscape, Inc. Need VT100, but don't need to dial out, just connect to the serial port (/dev/ttys0) to setup USB modem. Art On Mon, 2002-08-05 at 09:00, Jonathan Cowherd wrote:

Hi Art, I gather you are having problems with a USB modem. I have not had any experiance with them but you should be able to use kppp to connect to the modem. Somewhere in the setup of KPPP there is a terminal which you can use to communicate with the modem. (can't check at the moment as I use kppp to connect to the internet) Also in KPPP next to the terminal button is another button which test the modem. Minicom will also work, it is a copy of the old DOS telix program. Are you sure you have got all the modules loaded for the USB modem. I would be checking the /var/log/messages to see if there are messages generated when you connect the modem to the USB bus. I think it will be using hotplug to load the modules. Sorry I can't help more but I don't have any experiance with USB modems. Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
