Arrg. i'm stumped on this. I've tried doing exactly what the firewall howto tells you to do but i get mixed results. I can ping everything inside my network, my internet ip, my isps gateway and nameservers and a variety of other sites but for some reason i can't ping all sites on the internet. Does anyone have anything i can try because i really need this going. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance Jason Unrein btw if it will help i can post what route and ifconfig return -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

Hi Jason - This isn't exactly help, but have you considered that the problem may *not* be on your end? If you can get from inside your firewall to your ISP's nameservers, and to some sites on the internet, then it could be that your ISP is having routing troubles. Also, I believe that in an effort to protect themselves from DoS attacks, some administrators have set things up so their routers/servers do *not* reply to pings. Like I said, this isn't exactly help, but it may be that you are blaming yourself for external problems. -- Isn't it strange that the same people that laugh at gypsy fortune tellers take economists seriously? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

Well its official, it is my problem (i think :). I've rewired it so that i'm on a direct connect and I can go almost anywhere and do almost anything. So that takes me back to step 1. Well if anyone has any ideas i'd like to know. I'm probably just going to reinstall (again) next weekend and get 6.4 going on it with the 2.2.16 kernel (hopefully).
