Would someone running Suse 7.1 please send me a copy of the rc.local file. Mine disappeared. Also what is it's address? I beleive it should be /etc/rc.d/rc.local. In my /etc, rc.d shows up as a symbolic link to /init.d. Is that correct? Being an old Slackware guy, I think the file you're looking for is /etc/init.d/boot.local, which is the equivalent of Slackware's /etc/rc.d/rc.local. init.d is there to comply with the LSB and rc.d is symlinked for people used to the 'old' way. -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com
Thank you very much for the reply. I think the boot.local file will work for what I want to do. That is - an entry for a ham radio program I am trying to install. It does leave me a mystery. I have a completely unexpected file "/radio" at the boot level. I will attach it. The lower part of it is very similar to an rc.local file in Red Hat. Do you know if we have anything like this in Suse? Jack aa6vn@pacbell.net On Friday 14 September 2001 11:16, you wrote:

boot.local is the SuSE version of rc.local as far as I know. * Jack Reilly (aa6vn@pacbell.net) [010914 15:01]: ->Thank you very much for the reply. My SuSE 7.1 system doesn't have any rc.local file, but it does have some other systemwide local files: /etc/init.d/boot.local /etc/init.d/profile.local Perhaps one of those is what you really want. Paul
