I still wish there was a way to make them strip all the open source software from their products. Ya, stripping out the tcp/ip stack would kinda kill .net/hailstorm dead in it's tracks. Kinda like a headshot in UT - the body might keep running for a bit, but know where to go! :) On Monday 04 June 2001 08:03 pm, Ben Rosenberg wrote:

Is it confirmed that they took their NT TCP/IP stack from FreeBSD, or is
this just a rumour? What is the source for it? And if they did,
wouldn't this be allowed under the FreeBSD license?

Nobody besides M$ itself can _confirm_ where they took TCP/IP stack but I have read reports of bugs in M$ stack which were the same as in the original BSD implementation. The answer to the second question is positive, the FreeBSD license does allow this. -Kastus
