Hi I'm running 7.0 (waiting impatiently for 7.1) Whatever I try I can't get Sax2 to set up my keyboard properly. If I do the easy configuration it sets everything up but whewn I startx the keyboard is non functional. If I try to set up the keyboard manually using the expert option I can never get the configuration. The keryboard is a generic 104 key UK model and Sax has no trouble with it. Any ideas please ? Mike

Mike Mike,
Can you tell us what kind of keyboard, mouse and video card we're dealing with here? SaX2 don't always get things right. take a look at your /etc/X11/XF86Config and see if there is anything obviously outa wack. Also check to see if there is a /etc/XF86Config. There might be one "masking" the other. It's not the most user friendly thing in the world, but xf86config is a solid fallback in most cases. SaX will put you in XFree86-3.x mode, but if it works, at least you have "something." I'm super tiered, so my brain isn't coming up with anthing else right now. I noticed you posted several hours ago and didn't get an answre. I hope someone can pick this up where I left off. Good Luck, Steve

Steve Sorry I didn't make it quite clear. I have XFree86 3 running, I just want to try XFree86 4. Anyway the box is a P11 300 with 196 meg ram and the relevant hardware is a Logitech Pilot mouse, a generic 104 UK keyboard, Voodoo 3 2000 and CTX 1569 monitor. There is an /etc/XF86Config but not an /etc/X11?XF86Config. Is there an alternative to SAX2 to configure XFree86 4 ? Mike
