[opensuse] Is ACM in kernel 2.6.22.3-ccj53-default?
Jan, All: Does 2.6.22.3-ccj53-default have acm compiled in? If not how do I do it? I am trying to use kmobile tools on 10.2 with 2.6.22.3-ccj53-default, and it doesn't look like acm ever registers the usb modem. Googling suggests that I'm missing acm. Below is the relevant dmesg output. usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3 usb 2-1: new device found, idVendor=22b8, idProduct=6410 usb 2-1: new device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 2-1: Product: Motorola Phone (RAZRV3xx) usb 2-1: Manufacturer: Motorola Inc. usb 2-1: SerialNumber: xxx5100100xxx usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice usb-storage: device found at 3 usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning usbcore: registered new interface driver usb-storage usb-storage: device scan complete usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for generic usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial_generic drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial Driver core If acm isn't the issue, then has it been superseded by usb-serial.c in the new kernel? As you can see, I'm taking wild stabs at trying to figure out why I can't get kmobletools to recognize the modem. Any help is always appreciated. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. You can check: grep ACM /boot/config-2.6.22.3-ccj53-default it will give you all entries that contain ACM as substring. grep ACM config-2.6.22.5-12-default gives # CONFIG_FB_MACMODES is not set CONFIG_USB_ACM=m If it is not compiled in 2.6.22.3-ccj53-default kernel you have to install kernel sources for that kernel, and run make manuconfig or better make xconfig that has search function and you can jump direct to settings that you want to change. In your case it can be that you need moto4lin program, or at least to see some articles there: http://moto4lin.sourceforge.net/wiki/Main_Page Here are a recent threads on: http://forums3.novell.com/group/opensuse.org.suse-linux.support.install-conf... http://forums3.novell.com/group/opensuse.org.suse-linux.support.install-conf... -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

grep ACM config-2.6.22.5-12-default gives # CONFIG_FB_MACMODES is not set CONFIG_USB_ACM=m

Thanks! I will look at the kernel config and the moto4lin information. If I do have to compile, thankfully I have the kernel source already installed! -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
