I work as IT person in a voluntary capacity for a local charity, I have been given another pc today, and now have enough to set one up as an email server. What are the min requirements for this, I think it is a 486 33mhz 16meg memory. will this be enough to get linux going ? dids -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

Hi Dids, yes this should be enough to get linux running. You *cannot* use yast2 for installation, since its memory requirement is to high, no fun on a 486/33 anyway. Try either to boot with CD2 or enter "manual" at the boot prompt to use yast1. Hope you got enough HD space to store all the mails... ;-) Juergen -- =========================================== __ _ Juergen Braukmann juergen.braukmann@gmx.de| -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Tel: 0201-743648 dk4jb@db0qs.#nrw.deu.eu | /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ===========================================_\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Yes for Linux -- in console. Might be a bit tight for XWindows, though -- dids wrote:

console will be fine. although i think i would like to get apache going so i can administer it using Webmin. Would probably be able to stick 32mb of memory in ? dids -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Webmin doesn't need to have Apache installed... It has it's own mini-server included. BTW, Webmin is GREAT!!!!! Been using it for a couple of years and I LOVE it! And there are third-party modules to extend it beyond the basics, too... Geordon At 04:42 AM 10/3/00, dids wrote:

With SusE 6.4 you had to have 48 MB of RAM minimum to use the GUI installer. JW At 09:35 PM 10/3/2000 +1300, you wrote:
