Evolution email is slow in 10.0
When Evolution gets mail in Suse 10.0, is is very slow, probably at least 10 times slower than in 9.3. Has anyone else noticed this or is it only my two machines? One an AMD 64, the other, a 2.2 GHZ pentium 4.

I haven't had any problems at all. Every bit as fast as it was in 9.3.

Forgot to mention, these were upgrades instead of new install. Would

Go into evolution settings-->Mail Preferences-->junk tab and turn off Check incoming mail for junk. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998

That fixed it. Called my wife and lead her through the procedure long distance. She is happy now. Hopefully, they speed that up in the future because it is really slow. Art

When it says it is checking for junk it is actually doing a virus check of all of the inbound email. So I doubt it will run any faster. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998

So it's the junk scan and the virus scan? Perhaps they ought to segregate the two and let us choose if we want either component to run. I can see junk checking, but...

I found that starting spamd drastically improved the time even with the junk mail checking. Art
