Please Read -- Want to trade plus a question ..
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, I'm looking for an AMD 300mhz CPU socket 7 type OR a mother board that will work with a AMD Athlon 500mhz CPU (this CPU I have). If you have one to trade, I will give you a copy of SuSE 8.2 (5 disks) or 8.1 (7 disks) your choice. If you're interested, email me off list. Now a question to the list in general. Is what I am asking "OK"? I mean, am I stepping on any GPL toes by giving a self-burned copy of SuSE in trade like this? No money changes hands, used parts only. What do you guys think? The GPL isn't violated by asking for payment, but the YaST license is, so I think you're out on a limb with that one. Note that the license talks about payment, it doesn't mention currency specifically. "gegen Entgelt" means "for payment", and a computer is payment, even though it's not universally legal tender.

First, sorry Jim, but I don't have an AMD MOBO for you (got an old PII and a newer PIII MOBO that I don't have any use for). Second, I personally don't see anything wrong at all with how you're doing this 'trade' thing. So long as you're not selling it, IMHO, it's cool. Besides, if it isn't, then I guess I need to go back to the high school I gave my 8.0 set to and take it back. Either way, this *ain't* M$. Nothing saying you can't do what you're doing. John -- A butterfly is: Pretty,soft,harmless...and useless, just like M$N. My Penguin eats butterflies.

dict sell From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) [web1913]: Sell \Sell\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Sold}; p. pr. & vb. n. <snip> 1. To transfer to another for an equivalent; to give up for a valuable consideration; to dispose of in return for something, especially for money He is selling
IMHO, it's cool. Besides, if it isn't, then I guess I need to go back to the high school I gave my 8.0 set to and take it back.
dict give From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) [web1913]: Give \Give\ (g[i^]v), v. t. [imp. {Gave} (g[=a]v); p. p. {Given} (g[i^]v"'n); p. pr. & vb. n. {Giving}.] [OE. given, yiven, yeven, AS. gifan, giefan; akin to D. geven, OS. ge[eth]an, OHG. geban, G. geben, Icel. gefa, Sw. gifva, Dan. give, Goth. giban. Cf. {Gift}, n.] 1. To bestow without receiving a return; to confer without compensation; Not really the same thing, is it
Either way, this *ain't* M$. Nothing saying you can't do what you're doing.
except the YaST license
