[opensuse] Can't install ATI drivers on 11.1. Missing libstdc++.so.5 ?
I am able to make the ATI rpm: # sh ./ati-driver-installer-8-12-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg SuSE/SUSE111-AMD64 But when I try and install it; # rpm -hiv fglrx64_7_4_0_SUSE111-8.561-1.x86_64.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libstdc++.so.5 is needed by fglrx64_7_4_0_SUSE111-8.561-1.x86_64 libstdc++.so.5(CXXABI_1.2) is needed by fglrx64_7_4_0_SUSE111-8.561-1.x86_64 libstdc++.so.5(GLIBCPP_3.2) is needed by fglrx64_7_4_0_SUSE111-8.561-1.x86_64 zypper says I have libstdc++ (edited for formatting): # zypper search libstdc++ Loading repository data... I also ensured I have all the packages mentioned on the OpenSUSE ATI Wiki. I'd rather just add the ATI repository but there does not appear to be one for 11.1 yet? I tried adding: http://www2.ati.com/suse/11.1 Hopefully someone can update the Wiki? http://en.opensuse.org/ATI -- John Lange www.johnlange.ca -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I am able to make the ATI rpm:
# sh ./ati-driver-installer-8-12-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg SuSE/SUSE111-AMD64
But when I try and install it;
# rpm -hiv fglrx64_7_4_0_SUSE111-8.561-1.x86_64.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libstdc++.so.5 is needed by fglrx64_7_4_0_SUSE111-8.561-1.x86_64 libstdc++.so.5(CXXABI_1.2) is needed by fglrx64_7_4_0_SUSE111-8.561-1.x86_64 libstdc++.so.5(GLIBCPP_3.2) is needed by fglrx64_7_4_0_SUSE111-8.561-1.x86_64
zypper says I have libstdc++ (edited for formatting):
Wow I'm surprised you were able to build an rpm for opensuse 11.1. Since the ati 8.11 driver release, building any rpms other than fedora/redhat has failed for me, despite having all make, gcc, etc etc installed. I've had to use the built in installer, but it's good to know the rpm can be built. Anyway, to get libstdc++.so.5, I believe you need to install libstdc++33 since 4x provides libstdc++.so.6. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It didn't build under beta5 or the RC1 for 11.1 but since the release of 11.1 ATI has released 8.12 (ati-driver-installer-8-12-x86.x86_64.run) which includes a builder for 11.1.

I just tried installing libstdc++33 but I still got the same error as above. However, as it turns out you were more or less correct. I needed: libstdc++33-32bit libstdc++33-devel-32bit It now appears to be building. Thanks. I've been using 8.12 since it was released, but now I don't recall if I'd tried building the fglrx rpm in the last couple of days after I installed 11.1 GM or if I had just tried it in 11.2 alpha 0. I'll give it another shot when I get home. Thanks for the heads up.
