Hello Linuxiten Commoraden ;-) Well this newbie is totally excited and amused over the first month of experimenting and trying out all sort of things in my new SuSE 8.1 Personal. Now my question is that I would like to get the Professional version of SuSE 8.1. Do I have to get the whole Box of 7 CD,s or do I need just a update version? or should I wait until spring for the New 8.2 ? Now that I have the Linux fever I dont want the thermomator to drop in temperatur and dont want to miss anything that might be important to my everything can do wonder linux box. (Once I get the hang of it all ;-) newbie if you know what i mean). Everyone was a newbie at some time or the other and became profis with the time by experimenting and hands on training. So if someone could please let me know just what i am missing between the Professional and the Personal version of SuSE 8.1 TIA -- The most valueable Treasure you have, lay within you. Lots of software on the distro disks, including developer libraries. But the basic system is the same. So I wouldn't think there was any point buying the 8.1Pro version - wait for the next decent system upgrade, which might be 8.2 or might not, depending on your needs. Look at the improvements and listen to comments here and elsewhere, would be my advice! Thanxs John for your comment but I will get the 8.2 anyway for a number of reasons. First it has the new kde 3.1onboard, second, I love surprises, and third, supporting the developers and community so that we can get even better systems in the future ;-) The most valueable Treasure you have, lay within you. I would suggest waiting for 8.2. There is alot you can learn about administering and using linux with what you have. My understanding is that one major diference between the 2 packages is the lack of development packages in the personal edition (as well as fewer pages of printed information), butny packages you didn't get on disk are available to you online. Mess around now and if something does get messed up you won't feel bad doing a fresh install of 8.2 when the time comes. -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com!

Oops, then I guess it would also be a good time to learn the backup program in Yast2 . Thanxs David for the additional information.
