[opensuse] cpuflag vmx exists when running default kernel but not when running XEN kernel
Hi I am running openSUSE 11 and have the following kernels installed on my box: kernel-default-2.6.25.16-0.1 kernel-xen-2.6.25.16-0.1 When booting kernel-default-2.6.25.16-0.1 the command: cat /proc/cpuinfo | egrep "flags|model name" gives this output: model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx lm constant_tsc pebs bts rep_good pni monitor ds_cpl vmx smx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr sse4_1 lahf_lm (repeated 2 times) The same command when running kernel-xen-2.6.25.16-0.1 gives this model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz flags : fpu de tsc msr pae cx8 apic sep mtrr cmov pat clflush acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht syscall nx lm constant_tsc rep_good pni ssse3 cx16 sse4_1 lahf_lm (repeated 2 times) As you can see a great deal of CPU flags are missing when running XEN. I do not know if this is OK for some flags, but I really miss the vmx flag when running XEN :-( Any ideas why the vmx flag are missing when running XEN?
