[opensuse] YaST Hardware graphics card & Monitor fails to start up
I always do a fresh install and then from a backup bring my user stuff back. However, this time on my laptop, I decided to try the upgrade choice for the first time with 10.3. I like 10.3 and have no complaints except I lost my notes on how to fix a previous problem I had. Namely: YaST->Hardware->Graphics Card & Monitor process dies during the Importing Module phase. I remember solving this by removing some database file which gets rebuilt but my notes are failing to turn up what I did to fix this in a previous version of SUSE OS. Does anyone remember? I had a problem once with the printer database that was fixed by a proceedure. This has been fairly common. See https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=229231. Short answer: try these rm /var/lib/YaST2/printers rm /var/lib/YaST2/ppd_db.ycp However, this time I can't bring up the graphics card monitor configuration via YaST as it just aborts during the process. Anyone have a clue how I can fix this? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It looks like I have fixed this. I went to init 3 and ran YaST in text mode. I saw a few errors fly by but in the end the proper screens came up. When I returned to init 5 then all was well. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
