Hi: I am having trouble to make mozilla 0.9.6 (I downloaded a tarball (11mb) from mozilla.org) to handle java (for pages which over web chat, etc.)... It is a precompiled version, you just untar and unzip it and then create an alias or a link and it is ready to serve... but when I enter the pluggins directory (/usr/local/mozilla/plugins) I only get : libnullplugin.so how do I manage to get full java and full flash support?? Thanks! Raul
-> ->how do I manage to get full java and full flash support?? -> First you have to either download them and install them or just install them from cd..in the case of Java. I would recommend going to www.sun.com and getting the latest java package. Also, you will have to go to macromedia.com to get the flash plugins. Once you've unziped and put these files into your plugins directory they should work fine. You just have to move libflashplayer.so and ShockwaveFlash.class into your plugins directory. For java you should get put the pkg where you would like...example: /usr/lib/java(version #) and then you make a softlink from your plugins directory to the java plugin like so... You should be in your plugins directory when you do this. You would type this.. ln -s <where java is>/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so libjavaplugin_oji.so It will then look like this when you do an ls -la in the plugins directory. I have my java2 pkg in /opt/mozilla/plugins. libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /opt/mozilla/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so This does work if you do it as I've layed out. If you have any issues feel free to post them back to the list. If I can't catch them..we have many fine people here to help. By far the easiest way is to use the Netscape download file ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape6/english/6.1/unix/linux22/xpi/ Download Flash.xpi jre.xpi To a directory on your HD. Launch mozilla as root, file>open>the download directory; Open jre.xpi for instance, you will be prompted for installation, and install starts. Do this for both files, close mozilla, restart it , go to help> about plugins, and Java and flash with be there in all their glory. Much easier than downloading and compiling from the Sun site. Added benefit: next version of mozilla, just reinstall the two .xpi files, and bingo! FX Fraipont -- _______________________ Courtesy of SuSE Linux AIM fyxyf
