convert file.ps file.eps does not work, it gives the following: Unknown device: nodevice convert: delegate failed (gs -q -dBATCH -dMaxBitmap=300000000 -dNOPAUSE -dSAFER -sDEVICE=nodevice -sOutputFile=%o -- "%i" -c quit) [No such file or directory]. Any idea? Shouldn't device=epswrite or something like it??? thanks -- BEST WISHES, Alberto +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ Black holes were created when God divided by 0. ----------------------------- Alberto, What strikes me first about your message is that you have forgotten to tell "convert" where the file is that you want to work with and where you want to put the new file. My computer is not able to read my mind yet, so I always tell it where to find those files I work with here. convert /home/alberto/file.ps /home/alberto/docs/file.eps That should work or something like it. :o) Patrick --- KMail v1.4.3 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206

I ran convert from the directory where the file was located. It works fine with any other formats. -- BEST WISHES, Alberto +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ Black holes were created when God divided by 0. Powered by SuSE Linux 8.0 (http://www.suse.com)

I cannot reproduce the problem on my system (8.1): $ convert /usr/share/ghostscript/7.05/examples/tiger.ps tiger.eps $ ls -l /usr/share/ghostscript/7.05/examples/tiger.ps tiger.eps -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 78599 2002-09-10 20:57 /usr/.../tiger.ps -rw-r--r-- 1 malusek malusek 73287 2002-12-27 18:49 tiger.eps

Yes. See the following: $ strace -f -e execve convert \ /usr/share/ghostscript/7.05/examples/tiger.ps tiger.eps ... [pid 2602] execve("/usr/bin/gs", ["gs", "-q", "-dBATCH", "-dMaxBitmap=300000000", "-dNOPAUSE", "-dSAFER", "-sDEVICE=epswrite", "-sOutputFile=tiger.eps", "--", "/usr/share/ghostscript/7.05/exam"..., "-c", "quit"], [/* 56 vars */]) = 0 $ rpm -qf /usr/bin/convert ImageMagick-5.4.7-75 -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
