Is it possible that my box standard suse 9.0 could become infected with an e-mail virus?
Its not beyond all possibility, people have written virus's/trojans for "Linux" and one or two made it to the wild, but they quickly fizzled out (one I remember very well only affected . And none were e-mail virus's like those found on Windows. Indeed the current crop that is circulating the 'net will not do a thing to you. Unless of of course you ran it from within Wine, but that would only affect things connected with Wine.
If so how could I check, what should I do?
BitDefender works fine (http://www.bitdefender.com) but its just going to flag Windows viruses and unless you want it to make family peace, interested in exactly what the attachments are, use it to respond to users eith virus info etc, it just a waste of space. Virex on the Mac is the same, just flags Windows virus's, however as Mac people can use MS Office, Mac's can be affected by macro viruses... Hope that helps :). Matt
