RE: [SLE] seti glibc2.1 and SuSE 6.4
Ouch. You caught me, I'm a newbie. Just got done looking at their site. I should have gone to the command line to make sure. Sorry for any trouble! Christopher A. I was going to try to duplicate your problem. All of the tarballs on their website are just *.tar, not gzipped. Where did you get the gzipped one? Ed "Kulish, Chris (Des Moines)" wrote:
Thanks!!
I just wish I knew why the archiver in KDE wont open them... Oh well,
will
cross that bridge ...
I did find out that I can open tar.gz files from other sites, which leads me to believe that something is wrong with the SETI current build.....

Chris, I do something similar on large files. I DL them at work (via a T1 line) with WinNt; FTP them to myAIX server; and tar them to an 8mm tape tp get them home. I am attaching a gip of the setiathome binary. I hope it works.

I am trying to download the i386 glibc version. I cant seem to open the archive. What I did, bite my tongue, was download it on a windows
extract the executible and save to a floppy to export to my Linux boxes. My problem is the archive, not actually running the seti client itself...
Ever here of such a thing??

Chris, Which Seti are you trying to download? I have 6.4 running on my test box and Seti works fine on it, but it is the 386 version unlike the 686 version I have running on my 6.3 box.

Has anyone tried to download the seti client lately using SuSE 6.4?
I am getting errors when I try to open the GZ file. This seems to
only
happen with suse 6.4... Can someone try to download the seti client with another version of suse and see if it will open? I am not sure if its a problem with the archive or the system...
If anyone wants to email just the executable (glibc2.1), I would take
machine, that
too ;)....
Thanks for any info...
