[SLE] SB - Ensoniq 1370 chipset - "snd card out of range" ...
Hi, I've recently de-installed RedHat 6.1 and replaced it with SuSE Linux 6.4. RH detected my soundcard no problems, but SuSE doesn't like it :). On installation using YAST2, it detected the card, but hung on the test. When I rebooted, I noticed it still detected the card, but I decided not to test it. I've followed the instructions on page 264 of the manual (for 6.4) including the modification to /opt/kde/bin/startkde (p.265) where one alters all "startifaudio kaudioserver" and "startifaudio kwmsound" to "kaudioserver &" and "kwmsound &". On bootup I can see the Ensoniq module load up successfully, but at the login screen (GUI) Xconsole informs me that the "snd card out of range". Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance ... I apologise for taking up anyone's time! I see this message all the time. I just ignore it and go on, since it doesn't seem to affect my card's ability to make cool noises :). -- -=|JP|=- "Why, oh, why didn't I take the blue pill?" Thanks to all the replies. :)
I wasn't able to work around the problem. Not only did the 'out of range'
message remain, but everytime I tried to test the snd card, my PC froze,
until I powered off.
Sooo ... I'm back to RH for a while, unless I get a bright idea ;).
Cheers
