I've added a DVD burner to my system. I'm having no problems writing CDs and CD-RWs. Under Windows, I can easily burn CDs and CD-RWs, but I *HATE* booting back to Windows just to make a data disk that I should be able to burn under Linux. I looked at the X-CDRoast page concerning this, but it only shows versions up to SuSE 8.1 ... and I'm on 8.2. I tried running the version distributed with 8.2, but it doesn't appear to be setup to do anything to DVD's; absolutely can't blank a DVD-RW. k3b describes itself in Yast as a tool for burning CDs and DVDs, but darned if I can find how to do that. What tool should I be using to burn DVDs and DVD-RWs in Linux?

Check out the German support page on the .de site. It has instructions for burning DVD's. The article hasn't been translated to English yet. -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.

At least I know it's possible. Unfortunately, German isn't one of my languages; thanks for the link, though.

It translates it well enough to read it and figure out the instructions. ;) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.

<snip> Google can be used to translate the page into English. Works well. LW999

It looks like it would be great ... if I could ever find the page that he's referring to. When I do a search on DVD to try to find the article, Google apparently doesn't know that it should translate the page returned by the search (probably due to the JavaScript coming in under the covers). I get a page full of unreadable descriptions - at least to a non-German speaking person. I don't burn DVDs that often. For now, I'll boot back to Windows and do it. It's an easy operation there. I'm sure it'll really be doable under Linux soon, too. Thanks for the help, though.

Thanks. While I really don't mind (well, not too much <g>) booting back to Windows, I'd really like to be able to do the work under Linux. Just my luck to make bad language choices. I speak / read English, Spanish and Latin. So, of course, the language I *NEED* is German. Ah, well.... Thanks again. ---Michael
